Singer Donates Song Proceeds to ABQ Fan

New Mexican singer/song writer Andy Mason brought his signature guitar and his not-as-famous ukulele to Los Griegos Library today to perform a collection of his songs for kids. He warmed up the crowd with standards like the alphabet song and “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star.”

After some funny stories and lots of giggles from the audience, Mason put on a chicken costume while he told the audience about one of his fans, a little girl who is fighting a battle against cancer. She loves his song “Spring Chicken”; he sang it to her for her birthday. And, to try and help out his big fan and her family, he is donating all of the proceeds from that song to her. Recently he was able to give them $600.

The song is available from iTunes for just 99¢:

“Spring Chicken” is on Mason’s latest album, Songs for People, Big and Small. A resident of Santa Fe, Mason has been performing throughout New Mexico recently before his tour takes him out of state.
