Spring Break 2020

Albuquerque Public Schools Spring Break is March 30 – April 3rd. That includes April Fool’s Day! Explora noticed that, and added a whole Prankster day to their schedule! Here is an ever-growing list of Spring Break activities in Albuquerque.

Explora is hosting a variety of Spring Break Camps:

  • Single Half-Day camps for Pre – K.
    9 am – Noon. Sign up for as many days as you like!
    Monday is all about Magnets;
    Tuesday is Edible Science;
    Wednesday explore Plants and Seeds;
    Thursday is Music Makers;
    and Friday is Balloon Science!

  • Single Full-Day Camps for K – 6th Grade.
    9 am – 4 pm. Sign up for as many days as you like!
    There are different subjects to choose from for different age groups. Topics include Light & Shadow, Under Construction, Playful Pendulums, Magnetic Mysteries, Eggciting Chemistry…and special Scientific Pranksters on April 1st!

  • Tech Girls! Grades 4 – 8.
    No programming experience is required to join this special coding program. Challenges will include creating wearable technology!

  • Week-Long Spring Farm Camp for K – 5th.
    The Farm Camp will be held at the Larry P. Abraham Agri-Nature Center in Los Ranchos. K – 1st kids will explore Farming SOILutions; Grades 2 – 5 will design a garden and a critter habitat. For details and registration, CLICK HERE.

ABQ Bio Park

Grades 2 – 6. Register for a day or for the week!

  • Monday: Wildlife Safari — Learn what it takes to keep the animals happy & healthy, and build enrichment items for animals.
  • Tuesday: Wildlife Safari — Learn about animal adaptations and experience a close-up encounter!
  • Wednesday: Spring Water Journey at the Aquarium — Includes special tours and up-close animal encounters!
  • Thursday: Spring Green Connection at the Botanic Garden — Plants from seeds to trees, bugs, and make & take seed balls!
  • Friday: Outdoor Adventure at Tingley Beach — Explore the bosque and the Rio Grande!

Movie Camp at Sol Acting Studios

For ages 8 – 14. Monday – Friday, 10 am – 4 pm
Kids learn the process of film making, working with fellow campers to write, produce, and ant in a professionally-shot short film!

Horse Camp at Orona’s Ranch

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, March 31 – April 2, 8:30 am – 1:30 pm. Extended hours available. Sign up for one day or multiple days!

  • Learn sage handling of horses, horse care, feeding, and grooming.
  • Ride! Learn to walk and trot. Canter or lope work will be included is appropriate.
  • Horse-related arts & crafts, games, cowboy tub.
  • Learn horse terminology, including colors, heights markings, body parts, and riding styles.

Five-Day Camp at Ninja Park
